Did you know Casa BACARDÍ in Cataño, Puerto Rico is the largest premium rum distillery in the world?
Casa BACARDÍ offers a variety of tours, tastings, & classes just across the bay from Old San Juan. It makes for the perfect addition to any Puerto Rico itinerary, and some may consider it a must-visit.
Here, you can learn about how Bacardi rum is made, learn about the family-owned company’s history, and/or simply enjoy BACARDI cocktails at the waterfront Bat Bar Pavilion.
Bat Bar Pavilion is a nice, covered outdoor spot with games and lots of outdoor seating. They have a great list of Bacardi based cocktails to choose from that are absolutely delicious.
Reservations are required for tours, tastings, & classes, so make sure you make your reservation ahead of time. I do not believe reservations are needed for the Bat Bar Pavilion though if you’re just looking to hang out.
Pricing per tour varies depending on if you’re looking to do Casa BACARDÍ’s Founder’s Experience, Mixology Class, Rum Tasting, or Legacy Tour; all of which include a welcome cocktail at the Pavilion. Learn more about the tours and get tickets on Casa BACARDÍ’s website, linked here.
If Bacardi originated in Cuba, why visit the factory when traveling to traveling Puerto Rico? Bacardi was founded in 1862 by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó in Santiago de Cuba. Flash forward to 1930, Bacardi set up facilities in Puerto Rico, later being named the ‘Cathedral of Rum’ in 1958. And in 2003, Bacardi opened the Casa BACARDÍ Visitor Center at the Bacardi distillery giving tours and tastings, becoming the ultimate Puerto Rico tourist experience. After all, this Bacardi distillery in Cataño, Puerto Rico is the world’s largest premium rum distillery. With over 160 years in business, Bacardi knows how to do things right. You’ll learn & experience this and more when you visit Casa BACARDÍ.
I had a blast at Casa BACARDÍ and definitely recommend checking it out. With a bunch to learn and even more to TASTE, make sure you add Casa BACARDÍ to your list of places to visit and experience in Puerto Rico.
