I love an elegant & sophisticated hotel. The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop looks like it was plucked right out of the roaring 20’s (in the best way possible of course).

This hotel is beautiful. My favorite part is the lobby. It’s so vast & grand. When you walk into the hotel, you enter on the ground-floor. There is lots open space & seating on this level. Then, you’re greeted with one of the most beautiful grand staircases I’ve ever seen, which leads you to the lobby level. More open space, beautiful artwork, stylish furniture, a stunning chandelier over the concierge, a large bar, all make up this area. The center of attention, though, is the grand staircase that leads up to yet another level.

Aside from that, there are little details throughout the hotel that dates its splendor. One that I took note to was the gold US Mail “Letter Box” located by the elevators on the first floor, which were also an Art Deco statement in themselves. The hotel’s aesthetic models itself on Chicago’s boisterous prohibition days. After all, the building dates back to 1926 when it was originally known as the Bismarck Hotel.

Now for the room: We stayed in a “Deluxe King” room. Our room was great – we were located on the 19th floor, which is the top floor. The room & bathroom were both on the smaller side, which is not a surprise due to the history of the building & the height of the city. The room came with everything we needed. Plenty of charging ports, a TV, 2 waters, wine glasses, a decently large closet, iron, iron board, hairdryer, hygiene products, etc. The room was pretty “typical” as far as a hotel room goes. I did LOVE the statement wall with stylish wall paper, the decor, & the artwork that made the room feel special & once again, elegant.

The staff was very friendly & the hotel was clean. One thing that I thought was neat about the hotel is that you are granted a $10 credit per night to redeem at the hotel bar, or at the bodega behind the concierge desk.

The location of The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop could not be any better. It was a convenient walk to most attractions I wanted to see in the city. The hotel is located in Downtown Chicago’s Theatre District. I felt safe in the area at all times of the day/night. At that, getting to the hotel from the airport was very easy. We look the train/tram from the airport & the stop was about less than a 5 minute walk to the hotel. If you choose to take the train/tram from the airport to the hotel, you will want to take the blue line & get off a the “Lake/Clark” stop.

As I mentioned, we walked or used public transportation everywhere we went. Though, I did see that parking was an additional nightly fee if you were to arrive with a vehicle.

I had a remarkable stay at The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop. I’d defiantly recommend it if you’re looking for a high-class, sophisticated hotel at a reasonable price in a GREAT location of Downtown Chicago.
