If you look up “Tropical Oasis” in the dictionary, Banana Bay Resort & Marina should be the first to come up!
This place is a hidden Florida gem. It sits on 10 spacious acres along the blue sparkling Gulf Coast waters of Marathon, Florida Keys. There are 59 guest rooms and the resort has everything that you need!
The overall atmosphere of the resort seemed to be more “chill” versus “party”. The marina brought in a more of a mature crowd.
For starters, our room and the resort as a whole was very clean and well-landscaped. We stayed in room 328 which was a “Stunning King Room.” The name definitely suited it well. The room was decorated in dark woods, whites, blues, and corals, which definitely gave me all the Florida Keys feels. In our room was also a mini fridge, a TV, a Keurig machine, iron, blowdryer, and a safe. There were plenty of outlets throughout the room and lots of shelves and drawers so I could charge and put my stuff away so I could feel at home. The best part of the room by far was the amazing view that over looked the marina and dancing waters!

The amenities at the resort are fabulous and very convenient. There is a pool & hot tub that was located right outside of our building. There is also a pool bar that is located with in the gated pool area.
Then there is the marina, which to me was quite impressive. The marina features 34 slips, a boat ramp, electrical hook-ups and more. If you stay at the marina, you are able to use all the resort facilities, and you can stay at the marina short-term or long-term.
The resort also offers Water Sports – which I think is awesome! Unfortunately, since we were only visiting for a short amount of time, we didn’t have a chance to experience them, but they seemed cool. The company that does this is “Better Than Most Watersports” and they offer diving, snorkeling, and boat cruises. I look forward to giving them a try the next time I return!
My favorite part of the entire resort is most definitely “The Point.” It is the resort’s hidden gem. Tucked away in the corner of the property, is a sandy area that jets out into the water with hammocks, outdoor games such as Cornhole, Jenga, and hook & ring toss, lounge chairs, and another bar. I enjoyed this spot because it has extraordinary sunset and sunrise views. It is a great place to hangout in the evening. The string lights all around the area really set the mood and make it feel almost “romantic.”
Banana Bay Resort & Marina offers bikes for rent at the main building / check in area. This is convenient because the Florida Keys is a beautiful, flat, and colorful place to bike. I had the pleasure of biking around the entire resort.

In the back of the main building, there is an entire room full of games! Video games, Jenga, ping pong, and much more. It was fun to take a break from the outdoors and hang out in there for a bit!
The resort staff were very friendly and helpful, and checking in and out was very simple and easy. In the lobby / check in area, they also have locally made salt scrub (which of you’re not familiar, is very popular in the area) and candles for sale and they all smelled amazing. I was so tempted to buy one (or like seven).
The entire resort is tucked away off the main road. If you’ve ever been the the Florida Keys, you know that there is one long road that goes the whole way down to Key West. The main lobby is the only building that is visible from the road. Once you stop there to check in, you drive underneath this car-port-looking underpass attached to the building and drive back on a resort road to your building. There is parking in front of all the buildings which is very convenient for loading, unloading, coming, and going!
As far as food goes, there are plenty of great places surrounding the resort.
Overseas Pub & Grille, Sunset Grille & Raw Bar, and 7-Mile Grille are just a couple that we went to and I highly enjoyed and recommend.
Some other amazing places to visit during your stay is Bahia Honda Key which is only about 15 minutes from the resort and Key West (of course) which is about an hour drive or so!

You will absolutely love the blue waters everywhere you turn and believe it or not, the driving isn’t bad because of all the picturesque views.
I recommend checking out Banana Bay Resort & Marina on your next visit to the Florida Keys!
