From the arts, to the food, to the culture, and everything in between, Downtown St Petersburg is a vibrant city full of good vibes & aesthetics around every corner. Making for the perfect combination of tourist attractions, yet still reflecting a local and community feel, one mutual thing that St Pete excels in is making the perfect backdrop to some amazing photos. There are tons of Instagramable Places in Downtown St Petersburg
Being a bit of an Instagramer myself, I decided to set out and find Downtown St Petersburg’s most instagramable locations. These locations, are easily assessable, open to the public, free, and downright beautiful.
Here are my top 7 most instagramable places in Downtown St Petersburg, Florida:
1. Structure in North Straub Park
North Straub park is located right off of Beach Drive and across from the The Vinoy® Renaissance St Petersburg Resort & Golf Club. In North Straub Park, there is a very lovely white architectural structure. It’s made up of beams, lines, and pillars, and when the sun is shining down, which it always does in Florida, it creates beautiful artistic shadows on the ground. The best part is that the structure is blooming with lush greenery and bright pink flowers. It looks refreshing to the eye and can be captured beautifully in photos from every which angle.
2. Open Air Post Office
400 First Avenue N
The Open Air Post Office is a little piece of rich United States History. It was the nation’s first open air post office opening in 1960. This instagramable location was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The post office is still used to this day. The large arches, pillars, and meticulous detail is what makes this place so special. The large windows are fun to play with as well as the repeating mailboxes. I knew from the first time I saw it, that the Open Air Post Office was going to be a grand instagramable gem.
3. The Vinoy® Renaissance St Petersburg Resort & Golf Club
501 5th Avenue NE
Speaking of history, The Vinoy® Renaissance St Petersburg Resort & Golf Club is a flash back in time itself. It was build in 1925, seen many ups, downs, prosperous days, and years of vacancy. The Vinoy® is now part of the Historic Hotels of America. Some famous faces that had vacationed here are Jimmy Stewart, Babe Ruth, Admiral Richard Byrd, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Jay Leno, George Clooney, Tom Petty, Tiger Woods, B.B. King, Olivia Newton John, Harrison Ford, and the list goes on.
I love this spot because this hotel is pink and proud on the outside and rich with elegance on the inside. Anywhere you take a photo at this pink paradise, it will gleam with radiance.
4. Green-Richman Arcade
689 Central Avenue
It doesn’t get much cuter than the Green-Richman Arcade. It is an alley between two shops in the heart of Downtown St Petersburg. From just being there, you can sense the rich antiquity of this instagramable gem. The Green-Richman Arcade was one of the eleven shopping arcades in downtown St Petersburg in the 1940s. Now it is one of three of the remaining arcades in St Pete.
5. Salvador Dalí Museum
1 Dali Boulevard
The Salvador Dalí Museum is a Downtown St Petersburg favorite for both locals and visitors. It is an art museum dedicated to the works of Salvador Dalí. The museum features spectacular ever-changing exhibits. Inside, there is an outstanding spiral staircase that is prime for photos. The structure of the building itself is remarkable. The glass dome made up of small triangles is only one of the museums aesthetic features. There is a garden area in the back, a little water fountain-like setup in the front, and just instagram opportunities every direction you go.
6. Water Fountain in South Straub Park
South Straub Park is located off of Beach Drive and beside the St Petersburg Yacht Club. The fountain brings the park to life with its dancing waters and refreshing sounds. As if the fountain wasn’t enough to light up your photos, wait until you catch a glimpse of the Downtown St Petersburg skyline in the background. On the opposite end of the park you have the stunning waterfront and marina.
7. Station House
260 1st Avenue S
The Station House is a cool, modern, and eclectic co-work space on the inside, and hipster-chic instagram photo location on the outside. Inside there is a Kahwa Coffee, a local coffee roaster and shop, and Tebella, a family owned and operated boutique tea retailer. The brick stairs in the front of the building make for a beautiful photo. But just when you think you’ve seen it all, make sure you head around to the side of the building, enjoy the landscaping, then take the stairs up the side of the building and around back where can see the industrial-looking elevated sidewalks.
Fun Fact: In 1911, the Station House was a Firehouse and Train Station.
